2005 Ford Explorer Coolant Leak. It did not shut off as i shut it off prior to it reaching the h on the gage. Hello folks, i recently had the radiator replaced in my wife's 2005 ford explorer (4.0 v6), and it's still losing coolant.

I checked the hoses and the thermostat, but it seems the leak is about 3 or 4 inches away from the thermostat. The part with the connectors has failed, where the coolant lines enter the vehicle above the exhaust.it's not worth repairing, but i would like to simply cap that coolant line where it comes from the engine.

It lost coolant rom the thermostat housing and ran hot. Pressure test the system and inspect the intake manifold at the rear of the motor as well as the frost plugs.
