The coolant temperature gauge on my mk4 tdi has lately started to drop sporadically, falling to cold and then resuming the previous temperature a moment later. The temp on my 1.9 110 tdi doesn't get to 90 degrees, it stays just above 80. Then i tried the coolant temp sensor which made no difference at all, then eventually changed the thermostat which sorted the economy issue.
